What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means 'substitute money'. When you purchase scrip, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for your band student.

How scrip generates revenue for you
The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of PRBBA to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. PRBBA buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount from two to fifteen percent or more - is the revenue. PRBBA splits the revenue 50-50 with the student.

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising"
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don't have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

How do you get started
Click the links above to learn more about Scrip and sign up on-line. Print out your order and give it with your payment to the Scrip coordinator on Scrip night. Examples of how what you do every day can add up in your students account
1) Shop at Macy's: Spend $100 in scrip = $10.00 in revenue = $5.00 in student account
2) Dinner & Movie: Spend $69.00 -> $50 PF Chang's + 19.00 AMC theater = $6.54/2 = $3.27 in student account
3) Weekend trip: Spend $170.00 -> $50 Marriott + $50 Marathon gas + $20 Arby's + $50 Applebee's = $13/2 = $6.50 in student account

Similar purchases weekly would add $14-15 per week or more than $754.00 per year for just shopping using Scrip.
